David started his career in Casper, Wyoming as a one-man band and rapidly moved up with stops in Fort Wayne, Charleston, Columbus, Cleveland, Chicago, and finally The FOX Network in Dallas. Along the way he was on the ground Live at some of the biggest news events of the past 2-decades, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, The OKC Bombings, Waco, 911 and The Gulf War. After covering it all, he made the switch and started building news operations and coaching young reporters and anchors. Those same “young anchors and reporters” include many of today’s top journalists working as network correspondents and in major markets newsrooms across the country. “There is nothing I love to do more than working with talent and helping them to achieve their ultimate dreams. It all begins with coaching.” David turned a small market station in Tennessee into the highest rated ABC-Affiliate in America. In Illinois he turned three under-performing news operations into market leaders that for six-years won every journalistic award possible including "outstanding news operation in state," "best newscast in state," “top spot news coverage” and "top investigative reporting." He has built newsrooms from the ground up, hiring/coaching entire staffs and launching newscasts that defeated long-standing legacy stations. In West Palm Beach, David rebuilt the entire news operations at CBS-12 and FOX 29 and in less than one year turned both stations into strong market contenders. David’s work has been recognized with more than 75-Local, State, Regional and National awards for "Excellence in Broadcast Journalism." However, the largest accomplishment in his career was not winning awards but working as an investigative journalist to expose corruption, chase crooked politicians, solve a few unsolved murders -- and the crowning jewel -- a series of undercover investigative reports documenting how victims across the United States were dying from prescription errors. That national award-winning expose is credited with saving countless lives and changed pharmacy laws across the United States. David knows first-hand about the struggles facing today's newsrooms and management challenges…"to be successful in today's rapidly changing newsroom environment you need to understand you will be asked to do more with less resources than ever before. Managers need to move the numbers and have no time for whining talent. At the same time, managers need to understand the most valuable resource in any station is their staff and talent needs to be rewarded and compensated for what they bring to the team." If you are the best reporter, anchor or investigative reporter in your market and ready to make the commitment to become great…I would love to talk with you to see if we can help turn your dreams in to reality. It all begins with your reel and a call.
