As the VP of Content (News Director) at KDVR/ FOX 31 and KWGN/CW2 in Denver she oversaw all aspects of the duopoly’s News departments. Its combined staff comprised one of the largest newsrooms in Colorado and produced 70 hours of live news and entertainment programming each week. Carolyn started her career in news as an intern at WCMH (NBC) in Columbus, Ohio. She left 11 years later as the assistant news director. Along the way she worked as an assignment editor… moving up through the ranks as a producer, leading an investigative team, and eventually becoming the #2 manager in the shop. She left Columbus for her first news director job in Tucson, AZ. Her efforts there reshaped the newsroom into a competitive force in the market, growing ratings and the station’s profile. Carolyn assembled the most aggressive and talented news team in Tucson, with most of her hired reporters jumping to top 5 markets after her tutelage. Carolyn's next stop was San Francisco, where she expanded her horizons into entertainment programming. She was the Vice President and Executive Producer of Programming for Tech TV, a national cable channel covering everything about the technology lifestyle. She was charged with transforming a sleepy half hour news program into a successful live 9-hour show called “Tech Live,” the nation’s only live daily technology newscast. She also developed the weekly gadget magazine “Fresh Gear”. Carolyn also developed entertainment programming like the motion picture visual effects series “Movie FanatiX,” the make-over reality show “Geek Chic,” and the wildly entertaining racing events series “Let 'er Rip.” From Tech TV, Carolyn led an entertainment production company specializing in reality-based TV, with an edgy, irreverent style. She produced TV shows for cable TV, and large-scale events like the Visual Effects Awards, considered the “Oscars” for visual effects artists. With a firm belief in the changing role technology has on our business, Carolyn helped launch an online network for young urban women at TheFempire.com. She created programming, and led the scouting and development of talent for the network’s many entertainment and lifestyle shows. No matter what the venue, Carolyn knows that our industry is ever changing, but that content is king, and the people creating the content are one of the industry's most valuable assets.
